I watched as a sparrow flew gracefully down,
To drink and to bathe in the water he'd found,
A quiet oasis, 'twas just he and I,
He chirped and cavorted … I sat idly by.
I pondered his fortune, the joy in his find,
A puddle no larger than ten inch by nine,
He playfully dipped in the water with glee,
A sight to behold, such a feeling, so free.
No burdensome qualms, not a fear nor a doubt,
He lived in the moment, and frolicked about,
He seemed not to worry, he seemed not to care,
Just focused on playing, all else unaware.
I watched and I wondered at all that I saw,
Simplistic in beauty and yet, 'twas in awe,
This small act of nature will serve to remind,
We too can enjoy life if "we" take the time.
