Beneath the surface, deep within,
Beyond the armor of the skin,
An undercurrent seethes and cries,
For those whom you have compromised.
A legacy of dark despair,
Consumes the lives you claim to share,
A world you fostered from the start,
Through lack of love, and hard of heart.
Immune to reason, logic lost,
While those around you pay the cost,
Manipulations schemed and planned,
Through words and actions of the damned.
Oblivious to haunting trials,
You sit in righteous, calm denial,
Impervious, you hold no shame,
Excuse yourself from want of blame.
I wonder if you comprehend
The lives you touch, the minds you bend,
Though tears are dry, and long since wept,
The scars remain … the memories kept.
