Inspired by my wonderful friend during a visit to Vancouver B.C.'s "Grouse Mountain"
I wondered as I saw her there,
Majestic beauty, unaware;
How could she know the hearts she’d stir,
Within her realm of virtue pure.
Her past though long, as glaciers reigned,
Cut deep impressions that remained;
And yet through all her strength and might,
This beauty rose through endless night.
She stands in awe of all who see,
The force that lights her energy,
A glow that brightens with the years,
To shine above the cloudless tears.
A thousand eyes may see her grace,
An imprint left without erase;
A view to warm the coldest heart,
Impressions that would n’er depart.
I wondered … as I saw her there,
Her beauty touched by mountain air;
Her face alight by sunset’s glow …
If she knew why, she’d touched me so.
Alas, she may not understand,
The lives she’s stirred upon this land;
Though thankful, I will ever be,
To know a friend, as strong as she.
