Born to this world,
They come to us as quiet blessings;
A gift that is bestowed upon us to hold dear.
Fragile, innocent and dependent,
They touch our hearts as only a child can do;
And with love, we cherish and treasure them, as only a mother can.
We sometimes question God’s plan
As we struggle with the delicate and frail balance of illness;
Never fully understanding why our lives were touched in this way.
And as we rest, in the tranquil and serene moments
While keeping a watchful and tired gaze over our loved one,
A peaceful understanding develops that we are indeed blessed.
And whether we are blessed with a lifetime of caring,
Or just a fleeting treasured moment that passes all too quickly,
Our lives will be forever enriched by the times we share together.
For even amongst the difficulties and heartbreak,
Drifts the knowledge that “we” were chosen for this young life,
For they needed someone special to love and comfort them through life’s trials.
Take comfort that God has chosen "you" to be that special one.
