As a young child, my fondest memories are of a mother full of love and caring;
A woman who gave the whole of herself to others,
And yet always had enough time to share herself with each and every one of us.
We were not “just” your children … we were, and are … a part of your life;
The souls you would nurture and care for throughout these years,
With clear morals, strong family bonds and gentle guidance.
You offer your insight and assistance without being overbearing;
You prompt us to follow our hearts and paths without being obtrusive …
You, my dear mother, are the foundation of our hearts and souls.
For each of us holds onto your loving, gentle manner deep within our hearts,
And in subtle ways … we have become an extension of you;
We are an extension of your life, your thoughts and your whole being.
And not only in these times of reflection, but each and every day,
I thank the Lord that I was blessed with a mother whom I admire, cherish and love in return;
As only by example … could I have learned to love as “you” do.
