Sweet sorrow, will you not depart,
Let loose, this grip upon my heart?
I mourn the day you entered me,
For lost am I, to misery;
A darkness grew from your embrace,
My essence shattered, laid to waste.
You've taken hold, where once was light,
And drowned my soul in hapless plight;
So deeply buried 'neath my skin,
You prowl the depths from low within.
To surface then, you do arise,
To seep from these unwanting eyes;
Too weak to try, too tired to fight,
And so these tears, I'll shed tonight.
I pray that peace and calm prevail,
Though wish I might, to no avail;
'Tis not a refuge to be found,
Release elusive ... torture-bound.
